Content of the final thesis at our professorship

At our professorship, Bachelor and Master theses are supervised. There are two ways to write a final thesis: Self-selected topics or topics that directly relate to our research field.

We accept both empirical and conceptual topics, but please note that the workload for both will be about the same. Even if you want to focus on a topic that is particularly relevant to practice, your thesis must have a solid theoretical foundation and meet the requirements of a scientific paper. Please note accordingly that you cannot submit a purely practical topic, e.g. a business plan, as a thesis.

Requirements

Prerequisite for a thesis at our chair are above-average results in the courses of our chair, Innovation of Technology Management. Particularily we place a special focus on the Bachelor and Master seminars, as these serve as preparation for the thesis.

As stated above, a minimum amount of Credits are necessary to begin a thesis (as of 16.01.25: Bachelor-120ECTS or Master-70ECTS)

Procedure

Please read the descriptions of the available topics on our website. If you think that one of the topics fits your interests and your course of study, please contact us by e-mail.

If you intend to work on a topic of your choice, please check the research interests of our team members for a potential consultant and apply with your proposal.

To apply for a final thesis please provide a short description of your research idea, your CV and transcript of records to silke.heindl(at)tum.de Incomplete applications are not considered.

In case we have more applications than capacity, we will select based on (1) successful completion of the seminar in Innovation and Technology Management (TIM seminar at TUMCS), (2) successful completion of courses qualifying you to conduct academic work, and (3) motivation and further qualifications.
